  2. and probably soaked in chemical poison.... (elderly picks another clump of hair out from beneath the cap, a large blister burst over elderlies left ear.....), yeah the jingles a real delight.....

just how long does this carnival last anyhow?

  3. Just a couple of days really.. Then of course we must attend the post-carnival festiities wearing traditional Gallambiyas...

  5. Its good and comfy. AND not the tiniest bit jingly...

  6. thank f... for that... so what is a Gamba thingy?

    ReplyDelete
  7. A traditional northern African garment... Not sure about the spelling though...

    ReplyDelete
  8. okay...... like a sarong? or a loincloth? bet it itches.....

    ReplyDelete
  9. No, no... It doesn't itch.. and it's heavier than a sarong... Used to wear one in Egypt...

  10. you was in egypt? a marine biology thingy? what are camels like? did you see the pyramids? the sphynx? did you sleep in a tent? did you........ sorry

    (takes a deep breath...........)

egypt hmm nice this time of year....

    ReplyDelete
  11. Let me remember now...
Yes saw pyramids, camels and marine biologists. Nope, no tents...

Egypt at this time of year would be rather suicidal a destination. It's incredibly hot.

  12. (checks atlas..........) theres a giant pyramid and a camel just south of Cairo... did you see them..... jeez they must be massive......

how come they don't melt in the heat....
how long did you stay for, did you see sand dunes....

(gets a little sad) I never get a chance to go out....... your so lucky being a gnome and all.....

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok... first thing first...

This is not an Atlas dear mr. Elderly. It's your cigarettes. Apparently Camel. Of the unmelting variety.

..Saw sand dunes aplenty, but this happened more than ten years ago.well, 15 actually... perhaps more....

Guess things must have changed. Perhaps the sand migrated...

  15. (elderly examines the double comment unsticker valve...... oils it and proceeds)

you must have been only knee high to a grasshopper then..... and your beard?. The best holiday i ever had was on Crete, that was over 25 years ago, i can't remember half of it....... there were definitely no sandunes, though i do remember the black sand....... i must have passed out after that...

  16. Oh dear... Crete... Was there once (twice actually but I was less than 6 yrs old the first time 'round). Far too hot a place for gnomes to put up with... Pretty dangerous people too.

Still. Good beaches and a rather cheap place. Intelligence also informs me that fucking a girl from Crete results in a)death b)marriage c)both.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Indeed i left with the same impression, thankfully their was an international selection available.....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ah, yes... Never occured to me...

have some nice pics from a Cretan (they are I believe the root of the word cretin) hospital... Lots of people shot & stabbed. Quite dangerous being a doctor there ...

    ReplyDelete
  19. i did manage to step on a broken bottle on the public beach, leaving a six inch wound in the sole of my foot.... beleive me cretan hospitals are not nice places to visit for patients either......

Silent hill hadn't a patch on it, the doctor and nurse had a domestic while they were stitching me up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. well, they are mostly trainees I believe and hospitals have been under-supplied with usefull stuff for years...

    Still...all those stabbed people...

BTW, did you noticed the hundreds of shot signs?

    ReplyDelete
  21. no!! that was (hits calculator......) 1985... although the amputees in the waiting area had me going for a while.....

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1985.. wow... a period when all of Crete was voting for "socialism"... still... avoid the island. try Anafi (should be there in less than 35 hours - along trip over2 islands)

    ReplyDelete
  23. now thats an out of the way getaway..... 35 hours travelling....... by foot and snorkel i presume

    sharks! what about sharks......

    ReplyDelete
  24. No sharks, just 12 hours waiting in transit on Santorini's self-proclaimed harbor for a thing that called itself a ship and didn't have airconditioning... oh the horror...

    Still...worth it...

    ReplyDelete
  25. what no air conditioning? i'd feel right at home... no the 12 hour wait would set my blood pressure tingling

    ReplyDelete
  26. At least there are always beautiful girls with Gameboy micros and Advance War 2 cartridges around to help...

    ReplyDelete
  27. that would soothe an hour, what did you do for the other.... no i'm not going to ask..... by the way why did wendy title her piece Gnomes adventures in budget priced games or did someone do a typo?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, it wasn't wendy's piece... it was mine... but the editor had just gotten married... Guess despair didn't help him not mix things up...

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was an excellent piece, I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact it was the best article in there, it showed pizzaazzzz and endeavour. Mind you Wendy does write as well so it was a dead give away.
