Pandora's Tower Wii Game Preview

The controversial Japanese Box Art

Pandora's Tower, aka Pandora's Tower: Until I Return to Your Side or Pandora no Tō: Kimi no Moto e Kaeru Made..... is an action RPG developed by Ganbarion and published by Nintendo for the Wii.
Released May last year in Japan and due for release in EU on April 13.

A fan campaign dubbed Operation Rainfall began on June 24, 2011 to persuade Nintendo of America to localize the game along with Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story, to date no word of an American release has been forthcoming.

Character Name confusion
Apart from the Cover Art storm in a teacup, Nintendo have named the characters as Aeron and Elena, whilst wikipedia refer to them as Ende and Ceres.  My money's on Nintendo....

The Plot:
Your friend (Ceres, Elena) is cursed, doomed to mutate into a demonic abomination :(  and to free her you.. (Ende, Aeron) must... erm!... devour the flesh of the various monsters that inhabit the 13 towers.  Pivotal to the game's multiple endings' is the relationship that develops between you and Ceres when your not eating and fighting your way through the towers.

The monsters? Giant armored squid, fiery beasts and powerful pachyderms!! yes I had to look it up.. a pachyderm is any very large, thick-skinned mammal, such as an elephant, rhinoceros, or hippopotamus....

Is it any good?
For hardcord JRPGers this won't matter, but Japanese magazine Famitsu, which lets 4 game reviewers loose on each game rated it 31 out of 40 (77%).

And the much more luxious Japanese one

Alf the Helper: Why do Famitsu imprison the Gamer Reviewers?
Elderly: Why do they what!?...they didn't, what made you think they.. how could you possibly think they imprisoned the game reviewers?
Alf the Helper: ...Well you said they let them loose when a game is released.... see right there.. it's in black and grey
Elderly: :(....Alf did your family ever talk to each other?
Alf the Helper: my family?  :(   I can't remember...

Ah, poor Alf. At least you'll have a Wii something to play with.

Ain't that swell?

See how much Elderly loves you?

And you aren't even wearing your shackles... Is it Sunday yet?
