Crysis First Look

Crysis is a new first person shooter being developed by Crytek, the makers of the award-winning Far Cry. Players take the role of Jake Dunn, a United States Delta Force Soldier sent into a mysterious island in the South China Sea to investigate an unidentified flying object that has crash in the area. Crysis is highly anticipated, as it will be one of the first Direct X 10 games. Some of the technology it will utilize include dynamic day/night cycle, fully interactive environments, sunrays and diffuse transmission, real time soft shadows, soft particles, interactive/destructible environments, volumetric clouds, and advanced shader technology.

Set in 2019 after a colossal asteroid crashes to Earth, Crysis begins amidst a tense military standoff between the North Korean and United States governments for control of the impact zone. Amid rising tensions, the asteroid suddenly bursts open revealing a massive alien ship, which begins freezing vast portions of the island and altering the global weather system. The invasion of Earth has begun. Crysis features an epic three-act story of alien invasion where players are able to customize their armor and weapons in real time to confront an ever-changing enemy and a harsh, dynamic environment.

Scheduled for a PC outing in Q1 2007 can a ps3 xbox360 version be far behind?

Why do I get the "been there, done that" feeling with this game.

Great post, impressive gfx etc Dr. Elderly, but this is a bit too gung-ho American for me to even consider...

And I see that N. Koreans are now officially the new bad guys... Can't seem to get over the 50s... hehehe

PC shots so the images are probably quad processed glimp processed thingymagigs....

It probably looks familiar Timerunner because the developers are the same team responsible for Far Cry...

Indeed Mr.Gnome the "bad guy" list keeps growing everyday.... only a matter of time I suppose.... gnomes are still off the list as far as i can figure...

....I fear me may be overlooked, though the Irish were left of the Iraqi contractors list.... think we published some less that flattering articles, or was it the attack on the American warplane in Shannon by peace campaigner with a hammer....

being a minority isn't all it's cracked up to be......

On the other hand, minorities being not very popular always include smaller numbers of cretins... That definitely is something....

our minister at the time, reminded us that even though we're a neutral country (bollocks were not), that it would augur poorly for jobs and business were we to stop america from refuellin their bombing planes.

after the hammer attack, a rather angry American Foreign envoy came on Irish news to admonish the nation's reaction to US war effort.....

after that about 75% of the country would have gladly held the hammer. American Army planes still refuel at Shannon.......
