Louis Armstrong Mack the Knife 1959

Fortunately for you the humour grabs me only every other month, yes folks elderly inflicts another "inappropriate" retro video post.

Louis Armstrong, one of the most famous jazz musicians of the 20th century, and considered by some to have essentially invented jazz singing.

Mack the knife was originally titled "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" which premiered in Berlin in 1928. In 1960 Ella Fitzgerald made a famous live recording in which, having forgotten the lyrics after the first verse, she successfully improvised new lyrics in a performance that earned her a Grammy.

Stunning! Simply stunning! Now here's some stuff that you are never gonna see on anyone elses blog!

But its glorious! If you're scratching your head right now and wondering where Elderly is going with this, then you may be more familiar with Wonderful World (which has been the soundtrack to many a TV commercial) or even 'King Of The Swingers' from the Jungle Book.

Louis Armstrong was responsible for both! the man is a Jazz legend!

If that makes you grumble "Jazz Schmazz", and yearn for some younger vibes, may I point you in the direction of Glenn Miller's 'In The Mood' or Dave Brubeck's 'Take 5'...

You all better grateful to Elderly for educating you young folks! Sometimes I wonder whether those new fangled 'video games' have rotted your brains...

And Elderly! Wasn't 'Mack The Knife' a Bobby Darin classic?

God! Jayzus! We need to get together in the real world! BTW! Thanks for the heads up on FKWS!

Professional Widow by Tori Amos sublime! *takes tea* and of course, the wonderful Sexy Boy by Air...

Eclecticism works for me!

Eclecticism is the post-modern thingy of the 20s me thinks... Anyway.

Tori is unfortunately far too pop for my liking and Air just aren't suitable for stadium apperances. Much better for seated concerts...

sigh!... we pushed hime too far too quick FK... another few tequilas in his tea and Gnome would have been a firm tori fan.... oh well it is not to be.... (substitutes methylamphetamines for tequila....)

Gnome I will though admit, Air are much better.. recorded...

here i've made you a lovely cup of tea....

(drinks up)

Nice. Who's Tori? I like her though...

How can you not like a lady that has a piglet breat feeding from her in one of her vids? Plus she let Armand Van Helden remix her shit and is a little bit Kate Bush...

Surely all of those facts make her acceptable... Or is it just me?

(closely monitors Gnome.....)

no beleive me FK it's not just you, she captured my heart along time ago....

(checks Gnomes pulse)

...FK.. I might have overdone it with the tea additive.... jeeez... he's hyperventilating.... we'll have to flush it out of him... quick grab his feet......

(narrator: the following events has been heavily censored, and the video recording erased, elderly gamer refuses to accept any accusation of the mal treatment of Gnomes or overt abuse of another living being....)

how are you Gnome? the weather is nice isn't it, here have a small sip of water....

yes it is rather warm in here...

don't worry we will pop your eyes back in their sockets afterwards....

FK you may be holding him too tightly...

oh dear that's unfortunate.. he won't miss it....

(heavily censored scene ends...)

as I was saying FK, tori is quite the lady... what do you think Mr.Gnome?
