Superman Returns the DVD

For five years, Superman (Brandon Routh) has been away from Earth, coaxed into space by a belief that Krypton may still exist. Finding nothing, he comes back to a changed world, not only has terrorism become rampant, but Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) has married, started a family, and won the Pulitzer for her piece "Why the World Doesn’t Need Superman." After a stop in Smallville to see his adopted mother (Eva Marie Saint), Superman is back in Metropolis, and Clark Kent has his old job back at the Daily Planet, with everyone still incredibly oblivious to his alter ego. But where there’s Superman, there's Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), and he is likely to be planning something dastardly.

With the film scoring a favourable 72% on Metacritic.com. The two disc Special edition has just been released in the US featuring.

Blogger Buddies May

What is blogger buddies?

Well I'm glad you asked me that, blogger buddies is an adaptation of a certain Gnome's monthly recap of his posts and Gamer C's list of favourite blogs. What follows is a nod to other far more original and substantially sane bloggers, gamers and artists, who the elderly is proud to have listed in his sidebar. Over the months to come, I'll feature some of my favourite posts from these sites. As this is a first post, I've given a small overview of each site. So without further ado I introduce Blogger Buddies.

Gnome's Lair
tops the technoratti charts for good reason, "A blog-site-thingie about all kinds of games. PC games, adventure games, retro games, board games, consoles, RPGs and a variety of other stuff, that I find (the least) mildly amusing..." recently gnomey has reported on the latest Warhammer rumours, finds a well hidden Lucasarts cache, elaborates on the Russian home computer, discovers first video game ever, offers a space quest walkthrough and reminisces on the loss of one or two lemmings.

Deitrix Artworks
is a blogger with a gift, he produces contemporary and sci-fi compositions, recent artwork such as "wizards light", "Syphon" and my favourite "Release" set him apart as extraordinary, don't forget to check out his "slideshow" at the end of the page.

The Dreamcast Junkyard
does exactly what it says on the tin. A fiercely loyal and passionate blogger on the subject of Dreamcast, games, game reviews, merchandise, hidden swirls, accessories...... Recent gems include the "dreamcast launchday jacket", "Samba de baseball", "IGN dreamcast re-launch"

Pro-Gamer
dedicated to anything which is of key importance to "hardcore gamers" recent posts include "shamefully bad boxart", "Wii will rock you" "the choice is yours" Check out what he had to say on Peter Moore's recent foot in mouth. Since January he's managed to find the time to review Katamari Damacy, Tennis 2k2, Tony hawks underground amongst others. Prodigious, original and relevant.

360 Style, managed to get himself on the recent E3 blogger bus (I'm just now getting over the jealousy), the website has it's own forum and reams of Xbox360 wallpaper, icons, avatars. A must for the style concious 360'er.

Costume Get
Discussing the finer points of videogame costumes, from a gentleman whose been in the games industry for the last ten years and now works in the marketing department of IGN. Recent posts include "Castlevania is getting uglier" (true), "wet clothes", "hair is the next challenge".

Gamer C
A gamer with a knack for ecletic, original and highly entertaining posts. Check out his insights on the MGS4 trailer, his review of Castlevania IV, "the power of MUGEN", "street fighter alpha2" or watch the latest Superman trailer.

Lowdown 411.com
From their recent E3 pictorial to rare prototype 360 faceplates to their experience of loading Final Fantasy XI, to the world's smallest dreamcast. Wish they updated more often.

Camille Kuo
All the way from Taiwan, a self taught artist with raw talent, check out our earlier artwork (2001) and see how far she's progressed, the change is dramatic.

Xboxlive vs. Playstation Network

Eurogamer pose some interesting questions on the announcement that Sony plan a revolutionary online element for the next generation console. While many of us are still scratching our heads wondering what all the hype about the Xbox market place was about. To date 2 music vids and 4 movie trailers don't appear to show much leadership if Microsoft hope to beat off the all singing all dancing, psp supported Sony Playstation Network.

For a start where's the sneak preview of Underworld evolution, x-men3, superman returns? Well you won't find it on the next generation console, no siree. Which makes me a kinda pissed, really. Waiting for new content on xboxlive is like waiting for the next edition of your local parish newspaper, by the time it arrives it's old news.

To fully realise the hype around Xbox Market Place you have to subscribe to Microsoft media Centre, own a pc, sucessfully connect your 360 to your home network......... how many people are going to bother. This is supposed to be "next generation" technology, which would change the way we interact with media. And while it certainly has all the potential it delivers none of the content. Maybe next generation meant suitable for geriatrics.

If Sony integrate their online kit allowing me to simply power up my Ps3, connect to the Playstation Network and record my favourite episode of Lost, how beautiful a sight that would be. While the details are still hazy a collective pulling up of socks is called for or it appears Microsoft will be caught with their trousers down.

quote from Eurogamer:

"Apparently the new online service, titled PlayStation Network, won't just offer matchmaking and ranking lists. You can expect an iTunes-type store that lets you download films and music, and you'll be able to use the console as a Location Free Player. Which means you'll be able to upload stuff from your PS3 onto your PSP, and watch Blu-Ray and DVD movies on your handheld."

More content Microsoft please or else your console will be part of my media hub not the centre.
