Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence DVD

In 2032, cyborgs and humans do more than simply coexist, indeed pieces of each frequently inhabit the same body. This is the case with Section 9 cyber-cop Batou, a cyborg with bits of a human brain that contain the memories of a woman. He's assigned to investigate the murder-suicide of an erotic 'droid who offed her master. Based on the eponymous Japanese manga, but with an original storyline. Also subtitled "Inosensu". Scoring 61% from 82 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes

Reviews summary
Mamoru Oshii makes animated films that are as serious as a heart attack.
Philosophical chattering becomes wearisome, dazzling animation
Visually stunning, mentally numbing
For anyone who wants to see animation pushed to it's limits
Tedious rumination on blurring distinctions betwen man and machine
Simply too handsome to ignore, Breathtakingly beautiful

Ghost in the Shell is a great anime, even though it can confuse the heck out of me sometimes. I especially like the TV series, with the tough yet hot commander.

Never heard of the series, but Ghost in the Shell I and II were excellent movies, half-arsed american critics would never be able to grasp. 61%... Pah... I wonder how much Titanic scoers at Rotten Tomatoes (but will not bother to find out)

The TV series comes on the Cartoonetwork's Adult Swim. It's a excellent show, made even better with Major Motoko Kusanagi. Check out some lovely pictures of her on http://www.animegalleries.net/album/429
