Ps3 expect a shortage

And we can blame it all on the expensive components. It appears that Sony will now ship only 3 million of their promised 6 million consoles. As Ps3 game sales were expected to make up for the below cost retail price of the Ps3, it appears all is not well in the Sony camp

Dirge of Cerberus European Version

Despite it's poor review on Metacritic, one thing that shone out amongst the reviewers was the praise heaped on the stunning in-game FMV's, to that end Squenix over on Google Video has released a sub-titled version of the opening movie from the game and I have it right here.

Good news for European gamers, where the game is expected in November. Eurogamer are reporting that even though we won't have an online option, there will be an extra 40 missions included. There’s also a batch of modified weapons, artwork and sound galleries as well as a new character model to unlock by completing the Ex Hard mode. For the full list of extras head to Eurogamer.net

Death Trance DVD

Death Trance is from the action director of Devil May Cry 3, so if you've played that game then you should know what to expect! the film contains equally recognizable proportions of horror, kung fu, cyberpunk, action, and fantasy.

In an unknown place and unknown time, a lone Samurai known only as Grave (Tak Sakaguchi) thirsts for the ultimate battle.

Grave has stolen a mysterious coffin from the holy Tougan Temple — a coffin said to contain a great power. Trapped inside the sealed coffin is the Goddess of Destruction, confined and held at bay from laying waste to this world. Grave fearlessly travels the land dragging the coffin behind him, aware that what lies within is what he seeks — if only he can open it. Unknown to Grave, a young temple monk has embarked on a quest to return this relic to its proper home before anyone can unleash an unstoppable cataclysm... So begins the race to claim the coffin... but who will get there first?

Saints Row Review

Almost assuredly for Adults only and scoring an impressive 84% on Metacritic.com

Reviews Summary
Extremely fun and rewarding, deep level of customisation
Gta's humour was satirical this feels lifeless
Single player ends abruptly, dosen't lend itself to replays
Multiplayer modes are the most significant innovation
A GTA wannabe, but the most well-executed and enjoyable of the bunch
Solid but lacks the intelligence of GTA
Frequently rewarding, rarely frustrating

Enchanted Arms Review

Famitsu Magazine awarded it a 29/40 (72%) on it's release in Japan, Metacritic.com give it a hesitant 69% from only 4 reviews (jury still out).

Reviews Summary
Pretty darn good, a 60 hour long Japanese RPG crafted in a short time space
Predictable entertaining plot, graphics are a mixed bag
A nice start for a next-gen RPG
Hard to recommend except for die-hard RPG fans
Highlights can't match similar burning brigthly on ps2

37 New Titles for Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility

Well no sooner had I finished dinner, but I've now been presented with a portion of humble pie. Microsoft have added 37 new titles to their backward compatible list and updated 11 others. A software emulator is required for each original Xbox game you play on your Xbox 360 console. The elderly would like to say he is delighted with.

Burnout 3 Takedown (yesssssss!)
Fatal Frame II, Directors cut
Rogue Trooper
The Suffering (yessssssss!)
Ghost recon Island Thunder

and smiling that Call of Cthulhu, and Half life2, have been updated

When compared to Metacritic scores, I'm puzzled at the inclusion of

Catwoman (45%)
Aquaman (26%)
Torino 2006 (36%)
Trigger man (32%)

but hey i'm still a happy chicken
Thank you backward compatible update people!

Full list from game compatibility page on Xbox.com

whispers (battlefield 2, Morrowind, arx fatalis, cold fear, chronicles of Riddick, mercenaries, Sudeki) please!!

Ghost in the Shell 2nd Edition Manga

Masamune Shirow’s legendary manga went on to become a film that took the anime world by storm in 1995. Originally published in Japanese in 1991, Shirow’s masterpiece was released in English and Japanese in 2002. It is as close to “cinema” as it is possible to get on paper.

Now Ghost in the Shell Volume 1 has returned. This second edition features the original Japanese size and additional material not published in previous U.S. editions!

Deep into the 21st century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue. In this rapidly converging landscape, cyborg super-agent Major Motoko Kusanagi is charged to track down the craftiest and most dangerous terrorists and cybercriminals, including "ghost hackers," capable of exploiting the human/machine interface by re-programming human minds to become puppets to carry out their criminal ends. When Major Kusanagi tracks the cybertrail of one such master hacker, the Puppeteer, her quest leads her into a world beyond information and technology where the very nature of consciousness and the human soul are turned upside-down and inside-out.

Soft cover, 368 pages, b&w w/color, 6" x 9" 18years+

How high is your mobile phone radiation level?

Well apparently the Jury is still out as to whether your mobile phone radio frequency can or might damage your health. Yet not knowing whether mobile phones will eventually kill us or cause generational mutations in our brain structure, dosent' prohibit hundreds of mobile phone companies hawking their wares. While terribly irresponsible of these companies to take such a risk with our brain cells, their is some hope for us.

The sensible people over on Cnet.com have produced a list of the top 10 mobile phones with the highest RF readings. Because your brain's kinda important, see if your phone is listed

Tokyo Game Show 2006 Sony's hidden Secret?

Likely to become the biggest game expo in the world owing to the downsizing of E3, this years show will be held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Japan) from September 22 (Fri.) through September 24 (Sun.), 2006.

The show will feature exhibits by 143 companies occupying 1,710 booth units, making this tenth anniversary event the largest TGS ever (last year's Show feature 131 exhibitors in 1,433 both units).

Wild rumours of a new feature on the Ps3 have already started,

"The marketing chap had the lamest excuse of them all, he said that Sony doesn’t want to show the live demo as there is a hidden secret feature that Sony doesn’t want to show off yet."

And no it dosen't appear to be much the reported the cure for cancer and alzheimers

Silent Hill DVD Review

Scoring a frightening 30% from 20 reviews on Metacritic.com, the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill just got a whole lot scarier. How could it possibly be that bad.... well see for yourself

Reviews Summary
  • In Silent Hill athmosphere trumps storyline (duhhhh!)
  • Bad acting, bad dialog, and a confusing plot (SF chronicles awarded it a 0 yes Zero)
  • A step in the right direction for console to screen transitions (what backwards?)
  • Silent hills attraction lies in it's relentlessly nightmare imagery (finally a critic)
  • Stuffed with cheap effects and devoid of tension
  • A two hour stumble through what looked like fog

Silent Hill Offical Website
featuring such innovative marketing techniques as Ipod skins , mobile phone wallpaper, bid on the original costumes and props, character downloads, and an even scarier prospect that the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania is the real life counterpart of Silent hill.

Kengo Zero Screenshots

Continuing with my endeavour to post the most obscure references to games we'll probably never play, there may yet be some hope for you .....

Kengo 1 and 2 were released on ps2 in the West under the titles "Kengo" and "Sword of the Samurai". Lets hope, in a similar fashion, Kengo Zero escapes it's Japanese boundaries, where it's set for release on September 7th.

Okami Review

This adventure game sees players assuming the role of a sun god who's attempting to restore life to a world devoid of color. The game was released earlier this year in Japan to much critical acclaim, Famitsu giving it a nearly perfect score 39/40. It's Western release due September 19th, fairs every bit as well Scoring 92% from 10 reviews on Metacritic.com

Reviews Summary
Simply Stunning, touching and nearly impossible to resist
Your heart will melt, your eyes will do little wheelies
An experience likely to be remembered for decades
Hours pass unnoticed as you roam the massive landscape
One of the most graphically stunning games on ps2
The developers love for the game radiates from the screen
Perhaps the most beautiful game on the ps2
