for example, why can't i buy my car insurance in Greece, or import my cigarettes from France, or mail order tequila for half the price in Greece... Eu was supposed to get rid of borders....

..aye seems the greek insurance companies are not unique in that regard.... biggest scam over here refusing to pay life insurance for "pre-existing" illnesses. So if you were perfectly healthy when you signed the contract, and die of a heart attack a year later, they argue you already had a heart condition and refuse to pay out....
