PS3 price? "Consumers will decide"

Bet your bottom dollar mr. Kutaragi and at an asking price of €499 for the 20gb model it will be a stretch too far for many of us in the lead up to Christmas, particularily Santa. But please don't treat us like idiots by telling us the ps3 is a "new kind of product".

While the technology is amazing, (though i wont be needing blue-ray or high definition for the next two years) it's not blow your mind.

Is it worth the same price as the xbox360 and Wii together?, is the Ps3 so fantastic that we'll thank him later for the opportunity to drop €500 of hard earned cash?, does he really love gamers the World over so much, that in reality he's actually doing us all a favour by charging such a huge entry fee? ................ahmmm let me think.

I'll be expecting a price drop

Dec 2005 quote from Mr. Kutaragi on newspong.com

"Whether consumers think a product is expensive or cheap all depends on the balance between its appeal and price," said Kutaragi, again hinting that the PlayStation 3 may indeed be a pricy piece of kit. "Our idea is for consumers to think to themselves, 'Right, I'll work more hours and buy it.' We want people to feel that they want it, no matter what.
