LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth II (xbox360) preview

A conversion of the PC game of the same name (which earned an 8.3 on gamespot), The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II will merge the visions of Middle-earth from both the Peter Jackson film and the J.R.R. Tolkien literary fiction.

Earning itself IGN's xbox360 strategy game of the year 2006 (though the only competition was viva pinatta and midway battlestations), the game promises to overcome heriditary console control issues with RTS games, boasting a brand new "intuitive" contol system. Players will directly control hundreds of units in an attempt to defeat enemy armies, conquer new lands, and seal the fate of Middle-earth.

Challenge friends online with multiplayer modes including King of the Hill, Capture and Hold, and Hero versus Hero. Due this Friday 16th June Europe, July 5th US (source eurogamer)

And how is one supposed to play this one without a mouse?

They promised they've revolutionised the way an RTS can be played on a controller. But you've got to move the pointer, second nature with a mouse, not convinced i could get used to it with directional button.

Nor am I convinced I'll be able to clearly see what's happening on an ordinary TV, anyone remember Commando on xbox, great game but your eyes were destroyed if you played for any length of time.
