Price check: Soul Calibur for Dreamcast

Well I had to start this regular slot somewhere, and how better than with a nod to Dreamcast Nirvana in the shape of the Dreamcast Junkyard.

Originally released for the Dreamcast in September 1999, at the time Soul Calibur was rated as a masterful 10/10 by IGN.

Based on the arcade classic of the same name, Soul Calibur features over a dozen characters, a deep single-player mission mode, and a fighting engine as smooth as silk. And if you needed to pick up a copy today, how would you fare?

Well shockingly enough anything from $129.99 to $29.99 on Amazon brand new, and from $74.99 to $12.89 second hand.

Over on ebay, a brand new factory sealed (?) copy will cost you $69.99 while a Mint Japanese import just $14.99. Second hand you can pick up a copy for as little as $4. A soul calibur Prima Strategy Guide is listed with an incredible asking price of $99.99.

Damn, $100 for a SC strategy guide, a game that you should do fine without? I cant understand what kind of person would pay that much dough for it...

Interesting post, Elderly.

Best bid so far is $5.95, with a day left, so I reckon the seller will wake up pretty soon.

Here is to hoping this game will be available on the Nintendo Wii virtual console. If not, I'll be doing some eBay bids.

Good luck elderly.

Nope no Dreamcast for the Wii. On the other hand you don't have Wii on the Dreamcast either.

Now that would be something, Soul calibur on the wii, dreams briefly till woken by gnome.

What a coup though if wii became the console of choice for retro games.

It will, but not if a NES game (a mere download) costs 4$. Way too much, and a SNES game will apparently cost more.

I could skip the pizza after the pub, a saving straight away in my cholestrol level, the $4 i can then use to populate my wii arcade collection, everyones a winner.

well except for the pizza shop. And the pizza delivery person. Oh and the people i pay to collect my recycled pizza box and the person who transports my recycled pizza box to China, and the person in China who gets paid to sort my pizza box, from the plastic coca cola bottles.

I can feel a paper on economics being developed here.
