Star Trek Legacy First Encounter

Okay so the dogs in the street know the release dates for

Star Trek: Encounters (Ps2)This week
Star Trek: Tactical Assault(PSP DS) October 27th
Star Trek: Legacy (PC Xbox 360) November 7th

And by all accounts, (here, here) this appears to be the Official 360 Boxart, but I've been wrong before.

The release of the three titles coincides with the 40th anniversary of the series and promise to be the bees knees in authentic experiences. Bethesda Softworks employed all five of television captains to provide voiceovers. William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Scott Bakula, Avery Brooks, and Kate Mulgrew just in case your preparing a pub quiz.

Star Trek Legacy spans the history of Star Trek, following the challenges facing the Starfleet as an Admiral of a task force of warships. Gameplay campaigns play out in all of the Star Trek eras This time around the Federation face an entirely new enemy.

An ancient species called the Iconians have time travel technology that could change the universe, but everything goes predictably wrong when Vulcan scientist Sovac decides to create a logical utopia and align with the Borg, forcing captains from all Star Trek timelines to come together and defeat the ultimate enemy.
With full multiplayer support, players can choose from small-scale engagements to all-out war involving multiple star systems in addition to tracking stats and player rankings.

As I'm quite sure nobody ever payed to use the transporter.... let's keep it authentic Bethesda and don't charge us for downloadable Photon Torpedos.

He's still in his own form if you haven't seen the recent episodes of him as "Denny Crane" in Boston Legal.

Finally, as a trekker, I can relive my starship fantasies. Star Trek: Starfleet Acadamy can only do so much for me. Note to self, get an Xbox 360.

Denny Crane...

To boldly go where no blog has gone before... To wonder on Xbox Trek.. To simply be pointless...

Haig. The best thing to accompany your Tequila.

Hi matt welcome! not a sausage on an xbox version... either on the forums or the pro game sites, and I can't for the life of me understand why, My local store has reduced the xbox shelf space to same size as gamecube, which is not a very happy event.... did I buy the most poorly supported console in history...methinks yes

Deitrix you found the grey elf's twin sister... incredible images......

Ah timerunner indeed having been reared on star trek and william shatner, theres was always the hope that it would eventually come to pass...... but the best i can manage is the shuttle into city centre... pity I reckon i'd be fairly handy on the long range scanner...... if Uhuru is in it along with her legs and oversized ear piece well sign me up...

Haig, tequila and friends perfect company Gnome.....

hic!

sorry !!

Perhaps the Xbox is not that popular in other parts of the world. In our area it can't compete to the shelf space of the PS2 but it's pretty large compared to the GC section.

And because of the Xbox360 emulation issue some of us who have titles not playable on the system have to stay with it. Thus the need to keep the Xbox base strong. But I give it a year and a half before the Xbox fan base dries up and heads to 360. Afterall the DC had a year after it's first launch before they closed up shop. And the Xbox is aruged to be nothing more than the DC marketed better.

Im not sold on the Wii myself.. Its going to sell in the U.S. for $250! I was thinking more like 200 or even under that... You can only play games on it- and is it HD? Plus comes with one regular controller/not the other fancy motion ones..
The only game that has caught my eye is Zelda! Plus its the least powerful of the bunch.. is there stuff that Im missing that would lean me more toward a purchase of this machine..??
I do want to play Zelda tho'.....

Well... hicks... it seems quite a refreshing little thing. The Wii. And the tequila.

Perfect company. yes. Yes.

I would rather it be big with more power..! I know its small in all, but I dont care about that.. ..
Maybe next year I will grab it...

(guides gnome away from the new tv)

timerunner I still have my xbox plugged in press the big ol button for a wee run every now and again, for example even though Doom is playable on Xbox360, the emmulation software stinks, the graphics are worse on the 360 than the xbox. Bu I Reckon the local games store needs to sell some profit enducing 360's, than display the full xbox catalogue

(steers Gnome safely away from the fish tank)

Ahhh a reason for Wii...Deitrix? darn!!! Zelda, retro titles you wouldn't get in a museum, independent game developers given full vent..... and the wii Ps3 ad featuring the overweight ps3 lady and the young foxy wii lady.

(drags gnome away from the open window)

(sits Gnome down on the couch) you just sit there pal.. i'll make you a nice hot cup of tea.... your much to young to start a mumification process.......

(ungracefuly but dfinitely swiftly gnome sotr of drops from the couch)

Legacy is definitely the most promising Star Trek title in a long time. Since the game is presumably complete, hopefully they get around to releasing the PC hardware requirements at some point...

Unknown said...

Hey! welcome possum.........

(leaves gnome on the floor and runs to get possum a big comfy armchair....)

Indeed the long list of passable titles which i avoided like the plaque have left me with a thirst for some good ol solid Star Trek Immersion... here let me get you a cup of tea......

(steps over Gnome, returns, steps over Gnome again...)

here ya go... hope it's hot enough for you, what about some bikkies with that?

(gnome emits a guttural grunt......)

excuse me possum for just a second.....

(drags Gnome back into a sitting position and secures him with some masking tape...)

...sad really, no doubt a result of a childhood spent sleeping on forest floors........

(sticks last bit of masking tape over Gnomes mouth)

now where were we?

Star Trek needed a decent game to it's franchise. IT's almost as bad as game to movie adaptions. Not as bad but not many decent gameplay styles. They tried the 3rd and 1st person styles but with no luck. Even their starship-to-starship didn't fair well
Perhaps with the new hardware and new developer we can see the series finally shine.

Like with the Star Wars games...

(pets the duct taped Gnome)

Unknown said...

I concur timerunner, with the Star Trek overview, but i'm a little uneasy about the petting......

MMhhhhhhhhh!

Unknown said...

(untapes Gnome.......) sorry ol pal, just wasn't expecting Timerunner to get all friendly like that, for shame timerunner.......

gnome said...

I feel so violated....

Unknown said...

i most sincerely apologise on behalf of bloggers everywhere for timerunners inexplicable behaviour,

had i known that timerunner would even contemplate such dastardly behaviour i would never had contemplated having to secure you like that, i was merely concerned you would fall on the floor and hurt yourself......

here have my cup of tea...... i've reported the incident to the proper authorities, they'll be here any minute....

gnome said...

good, good...

(sips tea)

:)

timerunners inexplicable unexplainable and uncalled derivation has left a bad taste in my mouth, either that or i've swallowed a fly from our local sewage plant....

here have some more tea...
